Dearest Partners of Music with a Mission:
It’s so hard to believe that 2017 is almost over! With each New Year comes new ideas, plans, celebrations, challenges, and more. Bill and I are so proud to call each one of you our friends and partners in reaching and encouraging others around the world for Jesus. If we were to sum up what the Lord has done this year it would be with two words! Simply Amazing…
Our hopes for 2018 for Music with a Mission are coming together as the Lord provides. We are going to Yuma, Arizona in February to minister for some of the RV Parks in the area and hopefully a church or two. We will be parking our little camper next to Pastor Ross & Pat. We always enjoy spending time with them. We will be ministering for his two RV Parks as well, while there.
In March 2018, we had plans to go to Honduras. Unfortunately, we will not be going due to some unforeseen circumstances beyond control. First of all, the missionary has just returned to the states to help her aging mother and won’t be back in Honduras until maybe February, without any unforeseen mishaps. Then the country just held a presidential election and apparently there is rioting in the streets, etc. over who the president really should be??? (Hummm…sounds kinda familiar). Their Military has been called in to try to handle the riots. The missionary told us she barely made it to the airport safely and has asked that we all please pray for this situation to be resolved quickly and for safety for the remaining missionaries still in the country. With all this said…Bill and I felt a check in our spirit about going in March. Our hearts were to go, but with prayer and careful consideration we felt this was the right decision.
The most important thing is to get the salvation message into the hands of the children and that will be done. We have sent her the funds that were raised for the children’s books and she will have them printed and will give them away upon her return to the country. In Late March/April, we have nothing set in stone…but we MAY be going to Belgium. Jerry and April Foster are missionaries there (our church supports them) to the “human trafficked” population. We connected with them while ministering in Alaska last May. April is from Alaska and Jerry is from our home church in Florida. We’ve known him since he was a young teenager. They mentioned possibly having me do an outdoor concert on the edge of the red light district. If we can work out all the details, and this is a good time for them, we hope to go.
Please remember Jerry in your prayers. He has been in and out of the hospital with some kind of a serious intestinal infection? Time will tell as to exactly when and if we will make the trip. This is just a projected time and plan. We also have a sister-in-law from Belgium so we will be able to visit her and the family while there. In May/June we are hoping to drive our camper to Alaska. Plans are to help with the camp in the “Bush,” with Missionary Jim Schulz. I will also be ministering in some churches around the state. Our camper is super small so, if we can find one a little bigger with a slide-out, (maybe around 24 ft.) that would be perfect. Anybody know of one in great shape and super affordable, please let us know. We will definitely put it to work in the ministry!
Bill and I would like to say a sincere and grateful, thank you for all that you have done to help keep our ministry on the road. We know that your giving is sacrificial. Without your partnership in prayer and finance we could not accomplish the goals God has set before us. Our children’s books are continuing to be sent out in packets by the Assemblies of God Latin American/Caribbean Library, and we are so thankful for this partnership. We are just finishing up the Sleeping Giant book layout in Spanish as requested by the library, so they can reach older children with some fun reading and the gospel as well. We just heard a wonderful story, from one of our missionaries, about a janitor of a school in a Spanish speaking country who had been sneaking into the library at night reading the books that were sent for the children. The teacher kept seeing footprints in and out of the library every morning. When she asked the janitor if he had noticed anyone going in at night, he confessed that it was him. So you see, even adults are excited about hearing the gospel and want to learn more!
As you all know, all of the above projects come with tremendous expense and we are always looking for more partners in this outreach. Every book layout, every print job, every shipment, every journey, costs hundreds if not many thousands of dollars. Yet, we are blown away at God’s provision. We are also sending the book files to the Magill’s for a Portuguese translation. Once they get to Africa, we will plan to do a children’s outreach with our book “The First King of Rock & Roll.” That will be at least a year from now but we must begin planning. May each of you enjoy this holiday season celebrating Jesuss’ birth. He is this world’s ONLY HOPE and our privilege is to share Him with all who will give us a venue to do so.
Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
