A Mission to Honduras

hondurangirl1bylonandquetaonflickrWhile speaking for the Kansas Women's Conference last fall, one of our missionaries to Honduras came to me with these questions.  "Do you have your children's books translated into Spanish?  Are they printed and ready for distribution?  When can I get them?"

I realize that missionaries around the world are reaching people for Christ and that excites me.  But, when one comes to you and asks for specific tools to evangelize, you have to do something to help.  My answer to her first question was "Yes, I have them translated into Spanish."  Sadly, the last two questions still remain to be answered positively.  I told her that I would begin to work on the project right away and get back to her. 

Missionary, Becky Hoshaw is the Country Coordinator for Latin America Child Care in Honduras.  She is in charge of 13 schools, 3,500 students and approximately 150 teachers.  The country of Honduras is 97% Catholic.  Many of the parents do not know how to read.  There is no local pastor in the church there. The families are very poor and many of the children have never been to the city which is only thirty minutes away!  In some locations their homes have no running water and they have to purchase water every week from a local trucker.  They also have an orphanage where the children have been deemed unadoptable by the government.  Most were abused in some way and can't go back home.  This is another well-needed place for children's books and ministry. 
 
honduranhousebyrogerwollstadtMissionary Becky told me that if the children had my books they could get more teaching in the home. It could also serve as a tool to teach the parents to read.  With the plan of salvation in the back of each book, we are hoping that the children will take the books home, read them to their parents and that the Lord will quicken their hearts to accept Him as Lord!  I can only imagine the positive repercussions of going and sharing the gospel through storybooks and song!

God has laid on my heart to plan a missions trip to Honduras in 2013.  This doesn't give me much time to raise the necessary funds, but it is God's plan and He will make a way.  We hope to share children's ministry during the day, hold concerts in different villages at night and possibly a Women's Retreat on the weekend.

I have sent a copy of the two children's books to the missionary.  She is going to get an estimate on having them printed in Honduras to save a lot of money on shipping and hopefully printing costs.  She will also teach the children the songs that are on the CD that goes with each book. I'm planning to take along a Sound/Video Engineer to record our events and to record the children singing the songs in Spanish!  Once we bring the recording back to the states, I'll have a CD made of the children and send it to the missionary so they children can hear their voices singing!   
 
As I write this letter, I realize that many people are out of work and struggling to make ends meet all across our nation; yet I KNOW the Lord's work must be done and quickly.  I believe with all of my heart that His coming is very soon.  Would you please make this project a matter of prayer?  If the Lord speaks to your heart to get involved, please contact me and let me know what you're hearing from Him.  To print the books in America, the cost will be around $2-$3 per book and that is if I order 3,000-5,000 of each book.  This price is simply the cost of printing.  I covet your prayers as I move forward 'by faith' in getting this project done.  May the Lord richly bless you and keep you and grant you peace.

rammy2Cissy Padgett's "Music with a Mission" Ministry has been best described as multi-faceted. It is said to be relational, contemporary, cross-generational and above all "anointed!" Her name is included on the Assemblies of God National Speakers List and she holds Ministry Acknowledgement credentials with the Montana District. However, her message of the hope and love found at the foot of the cross does not belong to any denomination, culture or country.

Her passion and enthusiasm for the Lord is obvious when you hear her speak or sing, because it comes directly from her heart to yours! God is using this ministry to make a difference in the lives of people everywhere. She and her husband have shared Jesus personally across America and around the world in places like Romania, Thailand, Belgium. Also in the "Bush" of Alaska to the Yupik and Inupiat native villages and in the lower forty-eight serving in services, retreats, breakaways and conferences.  


Cissy lives in Helena, Montana with her husband of 40 years and has three grown daughters and 12 grandchildren.

Music With A Mission began with a Five Dollar Bill$5.00 missions challenge and an insatiable desire to see lives changed by a Holy God. Cissy grew up first hand, witnessing the power Christ brought into hearts of all who were willing to "thirst" hard after him.
